Enhanced Historical Limestone Protection by New Organic/Inorganic Additive-Modified Resins

چکیده

The Cultural Heritage deterioration is a spontaneous decay process due to water percolation and air pollutant deposition. In this context, novel acrylic (Twinswet, TW) siloxane-based (Alpha®SI30) resins were exploited starting from commercial products then modified by adding either polysiloxane-based additive (TegoPhobe 1500N) or precursor of SiO2 nanoparticles (Tetraethyl ortosilicate, TEOS) improve the Vicenza stone surface hydrophobicity. Properties coated materials studied using different techniques such as contact angle (WCA), capillary absorption, colorimetric vapor permeability measurements. Accelerated UV aging eight-month outdoor exposure tests (at Milan University campus) also performed determine coatings durability. Notably, addition both additives slightly enhanced hydrophobicity resulting in WCAs about 140°, decreased absorption especially for Alpha-based resins. Conversely, reduction was observed, even if within threshold value 50%. Concerning color variation, Alpha®SI30 preserved external aspect; instead, TW smoothly color. All stable exposure. Hence, present revealed be very promising protection historical monuments.

Enhanced HDN Performance of Al, Zr and Ti Modified NiW Catalysts by Using Co-Impregnation Method

The Al, Zr, and Ti modified MCM-41 materials were prepared by the post-synthesis method, and then the Ni-W species were introduced on them by using the co-impregnation method in order to obtain high-performance hydrodenitrogenation (HDN) catalysts. The activity of the catalysts was evaluated by the HDN reaction of quinoline. The optimum HDN activity was observed on the catalyst sup...

PMMA degradation protection investigation using ultraviolet additive

Polymethyl methacrylate, PMMA, is one of the most important thermoplastic material which can be used as replacement of glass due to its unmatched properties. But PMMA is prone to UV and thermal degradation. So to overcome this drawback, along with PMMA, UV absorber is incorporated which not only acts as a stabiliser but also inhibits 60% of degradation. It also provides better thermal stability...

Ester-free Thiol-X Resins: New Materials with Enhanced Mechanical Behavior and Solvent Resistance.

A series of thiol-Michael and radical thiol-ene network polymers were successfully prepared from ester-free as well as ester-containing monomer formulations. Polymerization reaction rates, dynamic mechanical analysis, and solvent resistance experiments were performed and compared between compositions with varied ester loading. The incorporation of ester-free alkyl thiol, vinyl sulfone and allyl...

Setting Reaction of Polyacid Modified Composite Resins or Compomers

The hardening of modified polyacid composite resins (compomers) and glass-ionomers have been studied using infrared spectroscopy. The acid-base reaction in Ketac-fil, a glass ionomer, was followed by the ratio between the COOH band located around 1715 cm⁻¹ and that corresponding to COO⁻ located around 1570 cm⁻¹. The combination of infrared analysis and band narrowing treatments enable us to pro...
